The Experts
Edward Marquis, Provence and St Tropez Villa Specialist:

if you are looking for a restaurant that is suitable for a special family event and has a casual, beachside ambience, look no further than the lfamous Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach, about 10 minutes drive from the centre of St. Tropez. Although it has the reputation as being a favourite for celebrities, it is actually surprisingly unpretentious and low key. The food is very good too! Dishes to look out for here include the trademark starter, a huge platter of ‘crudités’, fresh vegetables and a distinctive ‘anchoiade’ sauce or ‘Salade de Pampelonne’ (tomatoes, goat’s cheese and fresh mint). The grilled fish is excellent, as is the risotto with shellfish. Children are well catered for with child friendly dishes, and the lively, relaxed atmosphere means that no one seems to mind them running to and from the beach between courses! No meal in St. Tropez is complete without a delicious local ‘Tarte Tropezienne’ dessert, and it should all be washed down with the house Rosé du Chateau Barbeyrolles or Réserve du 55, a local rosé bottled uniquely for the restaurant. A meal for two costs about €120 without wine.
