Nelson Gay is a magical beachfront house built in the 1950s in Grand Palladian style and set in two acres of mature tropical gardens. It is located in St. Peters, directly on a stunning half mile sandy beach ideal for all watersports, just north of the Cobbler’s Cove Hotel and 5 minutes walk from Speightstown. The property retains all the charm of a bygone era, retaining all its original features, including floors designed by Oliver Messell. With 7 bedrooms (6 with air conditioning) and 8 bathrooms, it can sleep up to 15 people and is ideal for holidays with children.
Within the large landscaped gardens there are many large trees, and monkeys are a daily sight. There is also an impressive swimming pool (50 x 12’) tiled in green mosaic, overlooking the sea. An elegant garden gazebo by the beach, seats up to 14 and is equipped with a wet bar and fridge. There is a further dining area on the partly covered terrace and a formal candle-lit dining room inside the house. As well as the stunning living room, there is a huge terrace with two covered seating areas overlooking the pool, garden and sea.
The rooms are elegantly furnished, yet child friendly, and there are many amenities, including a study/media room with satellite TV, DVD player, surround-sound and VCR. There are also TVs in four bedrooms and the study, and a library of CDs and DVDs for all ages. A music system has surround-sound speakers in the living room, terrace and gazebo. Snorkelling gear, exercise equipment and board games are also available, as well as a fax machine and high speed internet connection. The house is fully alarmed and has two safes.
