Dudley Wood is a charming chalet-style beach house, situated on one of Barbados’ best beaches, Gibbs Beach on Mullins Bay. The beach runs into Mullins Beach and boasts a long stretch of glorious golden sand, as well as some of the best swimming on the West Coast. Golf facilities are at Royal Westmoreland, about 15 minutes drive away, or at Sandy Lane, about 20 minutes away. Watersports are available on Mullins Beach, and there are tennis courts at Sugar Hill, about 12 minutes drive.
The house is surrounded by an enclosed garden, with trees providing shade, and a swimming pool (20 x 10 ft). The surrounding coral stone terrace is furnished with sun loungers, and at one end is an outdoor dining area with gazebo, and another covered area with built-in coral stone bar and a barbecue. The beach is just steps away, through an arched gateway, with a wall mounted shower for rinsing off.
The house is on three levels, accessed by a spiral staircase. The interiors have a rustic, romantic ambience, due to the use of bleached timber on the upper two floors. Entry is at the middle level into the main living area, with wooden floors, walls and roof, all white-washed. The sitting area is furnished with white wicker furniture and has cable TV and video, and large windows opening to pool and sea views. The bedrooms are furnished with wicker and rattan furniture and all have air conditioning and ceiling fans.
