Crystal Springs is an enchanting property right on the beachfront in the exclusive St. James area on the west coast. Re-designed by Oliver Messel in the 1960s, the property has his characteristic features of coral stone pillars and arches, wall and ceiling murals, and picture windows framing the breathtakingly beautiful panoramas of the lush tropical gardens and the Caribbean Sea beyond. The small secluded beach cove just outside the property offers both good swimming and snorkelling, and guests will have use of the owner’s 22’ speedboat (oil and petrol extra), equipped for waterskiing and Sunfish sailboat. Within the beautifully landscaped grounds with fountains and waterfalls, there is a large swimming pool (45 x 22’) and pool deck, set amongst bougainvillea and mahogany trees.
The accommodation comprises a main house, an adjoining annex, linked by a ‘bridge’ spanning the natural water course which divides the property, and three separate cottages. At one end of the ‘bridge’ is an exquisite terrace with wall mural, comfortable seating, a wet bar and dining table. Adjoining the main sitting room is a dining terrace without walls and supported by arches and pillars, with a beautiful mural on the ceiling, and a massive glass-topped table seating up to 16, a wonderful spot for outdoor dining while enjoying the sea views.
Crystal Springs has 8 air conditioned bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms are in the main house, two in the annex, one in the charming Tea House Cottage, to the east of the main house, and another two in The Pavilion. Adjacent to Tea House Cottage is an air conditioned home theatre, equipped with a large screen cable TV, VCR, DVD, mini-gym and table tennis, fridge and ice-machine. Further amenities include a stereo system, fax, telephone extensions in each room and high speed internet access.
