This newly built house, in the style of a traditional Andalusian ‘cortijo’, is situated just a five minute drive from the pretty village of Gaucin. At 626 metres above sea level, Gaucin is one of the famous white villages (pueblos blancos) dotted intermittently along the old Roman road which runs from Algeciras to Ronda. With its mild climate and numerous restaurants, Gaucin has much to offer the holidaymaker, without having become too commercialised and losing its charm. Local activities which can be arranged include cycling, riding, guided walks, Spanish lessons and art lessons.
The house is set in a peaceful and tranquil position, at the highest point of a 45 acre working farm, with uninterrupted views across the Alcomocales national park and the valleys of the Rio Guadiano, as far as Gibraltar and the Rif mountains in Morocco. It is a beautiful spot at all times of year, from Spring when the fields are full of wild flowers, through the long, hot summer, to the crisp blue skies and verdant hills of winter.
The accommodation is in a main house and a self-contained apartment. The rooms have been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and the main living areas open to a covered terrace at the front with sitting and dining areas, from where the wonderful views can be enjoyed. The large furnished pool terrace has an L-shaped pool (12 x 5m) and a pool house at one end with summer kitchen (sink, fridge and dishwasher) and a dining area, seating 20 people). In addition, there is a formal Andalusian courtyard with fruit trees and a further outdoor dining area, seating 20.
