The largest of the Balearic islands, Mallorca also has the most diverse landscape, ranging from beaches to mountains, flat agricultural land, and a major city. The island has a pleasant, temperate climate, being protected from the cold winds of the north by a chain of mountains, the Sierra de Tramontana, which run from the southwest to the northwest of the island.

The capital city, Palma, dates back to Roman times and, once beyond the modern high rise buildings and hotels, the old part of the city, with its narrow medieval streets has much to offer in the way of architectural and historical interest. As gateway to the Balearics, it is served by a modern international airport with daily flights from many European cities. For those wanting to take their own car, there are also ferry services to Palma from Barcelona and Valencia on mainland Spain.

Here you will discover a warm friendly local population and each village with its weekly market and local fiesta. The charming town of Sóller in the Sierra de Tramontana is the location of one of our lovely properties. The town is worth a visit for its beautiful church designed by a gifted follower of Gaudi. Its lively main square and the tram which runs from Sóller to the port, via the main square, is the only tramway like it in Spain. There is also a mountain steam train which runs between Sóller and Palma offering a breathtakingly beautiful way of enjoying the scenery.
