In a peaceful location and offering total relaxation, this unique 18th century Portuguese farm comprises of thirty acres of vineyards and agricultural fields. It is located a few kilometers from Santarem, otherwise known as the capital of Portuguese gothic. The town is rich in historic monuments, yet maintains strong agricultural roots and hosts many country fairs linked to either horse rearing or local gastronomy. This area of the Tagus Valley (between the Alentejo and Ribatejo) is characterized by its strong gastronomic flavours, best combined with locally produced wines, considered some of the best in the country – a chance to taste the real Portugal! Golf lovers will enjoy playing at the “Golden Eagle” Golf Club, considered one of the best 18 holes in the Iberian Peninsula; whilst a short drive away, there is a magnificent beach at Foz do Arelho. Also not to be missed, is a visit to medieval Obidos, a hilltop castle town that keeps many of his ancient traditions and a strong cultural agenda live, so there is always something to do and something to see. The area as a whole is also ideal for long walks, cycling or horse riding.
The Manor House and the four cottages that comprise Quinta da Cabrita are available to rented together for the exclusive use of one group only (maximum 12 adults and 2 children); but when the manor house is not occupied, it is also possible to rent any of the cottages individually, sharing all the amenities. All the buildings have been carefully restored to retain their original character with thick walls, wooden ceilings, terracotta tiled floors, and original windows, and decorated in a comfortable “country casual style”. Equipped with modern day comforts for winter or summer rentals each property also has air-conditioning/heating, a fire place in the sitting room, a TV, DVD player and music system. The cottages have 4 basic Portuguese TV channels, while the Manor House is fitted with an extra 64 international cable channels.
The Manor House is a detached building on two levels; Casa da Amendoeira is a separate cottage; and all the others are semi-detached. Each unit also has a private terrace with sun loungers. Large areas of lawn planted with various fruit trees surround the whole “Quinta” and all the buildings are set around a central shared swimming pool (approx 12 x 3,5 metres, ladder), where there are some more sun loungers and some shade. The pool house has a barbecue and laundry room with washing machine and dryer for communal use. Further amenities at the property include a computer with web access for client use at the reception/office; a DVD library to choose from, a games room with billiards, bicycles for hire (2 adults/2children); and especially for children, a wooden “Wendy” house, climbing frame and swings. Changeover day is flexible at this property.
