The historical and luxurious Quinta we have for rent here is situated 45 minutes to the north of Lisbon, within easy reach of the coast and the enchanting medieval fortress village of Obidos. The area is strongly linked to the Peninsular War at the beginning of the 19th century, with the Alqueidao Fortress, centre of the famous Linhas de Torres Vedras, close by. The Great Redoubt at Sobral and the former headquarters of Wellington and Beresford are just a few minutes from the property. Also nearby is the old chapel of Salvador do Mundo, a valuable example of Roman-Gothic architecture, and the 16th century church of Santo Quintino, with its stunning examples of 17th and 18th century “azulejos” (tiles). The area is ideal for walking, cycling, horseriding and, for golf enthusiasts, there are several golf courses, including the prestigious Praia d’El Rey Golf and Country Club, 50 kms away.

Amidst the green and romantic scenery of Sintra we are offering two cottages within the grounds of an 18th century Quinta. The town of Sintra has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts some excellent attractions such as enchanting palaces, castles and gardens open to the public, the Museum of Modern Art and the Toy Museum. Other suggested activities are a romantic carriage ride through the town, a tram ride to Praia das Maças (charming seaside village nearby), sightseeing in Lisbon (trains into the centre take about 45 minutes), playing roulette at Estoril Casino or shopping/dining in nearby Cascais. There is also excellent golf, tennis and riding facilities nearby and several Atlantic beaches within a short driving distance.

The properties are easily accessed from Portugal’s international airport at Lisbon.
