Destination Guide

Portugal has much to offer as a holiday destination,  with its rich seafaring past, delicious cuisine, good quality wines,  superb beach resorts, and its country landscape of wild flowers, orange, almond, olive and cork trees and vineyards.  A country of traditional crafts and customs, there is an abundance of local markets and roadside shops selling locally grown food as well as  basket-work, pottery and leather goods. Moreover, its temperate climate means that you will find agreeable weather just about everywhere from April to October, and all year round in the Algarve.

45 minutes to the north of Lisbon and within easy reach of the coast and the enchanting medieval fortress village of Obidos, we have a unique and historical Quinta for rent, surrounded by glorious undulating countryside.  The area is strongly linked to the Peninsular War at the beginning of the 19th century, with the Alqueidao Fortress, centre of the famous Linhas de Torres Vedras, close by.  The Great Redoubt at Sobral and the former headquarters of Wellington and Beresford are just a few minutes from the property.  The area is ideal for walking, cycling, horseriding and, for golf enthusiasts, there are several golf courses, including the prestigious Praia d’El Rey Golf and Country Club, 50 kms away.

Set amongst the green and romantic scenery of Sintra we are offering  two cottages within the grounds of an 18th century Quinta.  Lisbon is a short drive or train ride away, and there are also excellent golf, tennis and riding facilities nearby, as well as several Atlantic beaches.

The Alentejo province is home to two of our beautiful country properties, each with private swimming pool.  The Alentejo is becoming increasingly popular for its stunning coastal beauty and spectacular beaches.  Further inland the landscape consists of gently undulating farm land with cork oaks and olive trees, and traditional hillside towns with whitewashed houses.  Finally, in the Algarve, we have some lovely properties to rent within easy reach of golf courses and beaches for which this area is renowned.  

Depending on their location, all the properties are easily accessed from one of Portugal’s international airports at Lisbon or Faro. 

A range of concierge/VIP services are available to complement your holiday in Portugal.
