The Venice Apartment Book
Italy
|
Venice is renowned for being quite unlike any other city in the world, with its complicated network of waterways, efficiently navigated by the Vaporetto system. While a gondola ride is a must at least once, as a means of transport during your stay, the city is easy to explore on foot, being well divided into six distinctly unique and charming districts or 'sestieri'. The city’s focal point is the Piazza St Marco, with its magnificent Basilica and the Doge’s Palace.
Our Venetian apartments are in the district of San Polo close to all the major sights. San Polo is one of the liveliest 'sestieri' of the city, with its market stalls, small shops and local bars; its maze of narrow streets, eventually leading to spacious squares and focal points such as Campo San Polo, the Frari church and Scuola di San Rocco.
The large and colourful food market at the Ponte Rialto, offers a diverse choice of fresh foods. Alternatively, small grocery stores and specialty food and wine shops are in no short supply as are a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants, situated on virtually every street corner.
