This stone-built villa, totally restored in 2005, sits on the ruins of an ancient church dating back to the 11th century, and which originally served the community of a medieval hamlet, 500 metres from the villa. Situated on a plateau, surrounded by the Appennine Mountains, there are 360 degree views over the countryside below. The hamlet has a general food store, a restaurant (specializing in truffle and mushroom dishes) and a pizzeria. Monterchi, 12 kms away, has a supermarket, shops and a restaurant, and the larger town of Città di Castello is 17 kms away, with a golf course and horseback riding.
The villa is surrounded by five hectares of private grounds with woodlands, with the immediate garden around the house fenced in. The garden has furnished terraces to sit and enjoy the views, as well as a swimming pool (12 x 6m).
The spacious rooms have the original cotto floors and exposed beamed ceiling, and are very comfortably furnished. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans. Further amenities include satellite TV and a stereo system with speakers in the kitchen, dining room living room and master bedroom. Because the villa is on a hillside and there are various levels, it is not ideal for very young children. The owners would also prefer guests not to smoke in the bedrooms.
