This beautifully restored apartment is on the first floor of a Casa Padronale, an old stone Umbrian farmhouse, dating back to the late 1700s. It is situated on a hillside in the Upper Tiber Valley with stunning 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside and valleys. The nearest village is Calzolaro, just a 5 minute drive away, and Trestina, a busy town with shops and restaurants, is 10 minutes drive. The house is surrounded by a hectare of land, with an olive grove, fruit and walnut trees. Guests have use of the grounds and there is also terrace in the gardens with table, chairs and sun loungers. The apartment is independent from the rest of the house, accessed by a separate staircase built into the drying tower attached to the house.
Renovated very tastefully to a high standard, many original features have been retained, including ancient chestnut and oak beams, original terracotta floor tiles and a fantastic 300 year old stone fireplace in the living room. One of the bathrooms features an original tiled archway which was once above the main doorway and is now part of the shower. Both bathrooms are modern and luxuriously fitted, with round ceramic basins resting on slabs of travertine marble. In the living room a 3 seater leather sofa, sky television, DVD, bookshelves and a library, make this a wonderful place to relax. The large, modern kitchen has Shaker style units, a dining area and has views over the courtyard and across the valley.
Opposite the front door of the apartment is a small terrace with chairs, where guests can take breakfast in the sun. There is laundry room with washing machine on the ground floor for guests’ use. There is an additional weekly charge for heating from October to March.
The owners live in the second floor apartment and are on hand to provide information about the area, the best restaurant, where to go and to make sure that guests enjoy their holiday in Umbria to the full. The apartment also has high speed internet access.
