Carefully restored by its architect owner, Fonte Caresino is situated on a hillside, surrounded by lawns and woodland. It is a quiet, tranquil position yet within easy reach of the nearby towns. Gaiole in Chianti with all facilities, shops and restaurants is 4 kilometres away. The property is accessed by a 500 metre unsealed road, not suitable for very low-slung cars.
There is a private gate accessing the driveway, then parking next to the house. From here there are steps leading up to a covered loggia and the main entrance to the house. About 60 metres from the house, on a lower level, there is a swimming pool (12 x 6m) with a special filtration system which reduces the need for chlorine. On a higher level above the house is a separate barn which the owners reserve for their own use when they are present, but they do not use the pool.
As the house is on a hillside, it has been built on different levels and has several entrances. The interiors are traditionally Tuscan with wood beamed ceilings, cotto floors and white-washed walls. The rooms are very comfortably furnished and there is satellite television with VHS, CD player, telephone and central heating (charged extra). The stairs leading from the ground to lower ground and the landing, do not have a handrail, so young children would have to be watched carefully.
