This magnificent apartment is situated right in the historical centre of Siena. It is on the top floor of an ancient palace, dating back to the 1100s, and complete with tower. The installation of a lift is not allowed in such an historic palazzo, so access to the apartment is up three flights of stairs. Because of its location in the pedestrian area of Siena, it is very quiet.
The private entrance is into a spacious hall with a modern wrought iron and pietraserena staircase which leads up to the main part of the apartment. Entrance from the stairs is directly into the large living room furnished with antiques and paintings, and a piano (the piano is a family heirloom so authorization is required to play it). The ceiling is very high and the room is light, due to a big skylight. The floors are in warm oak parquet and the original exposed stone wall remains on one side of the room. A short flight of stairs leads up from here to another living/TV room equipped with satellite TV. Off this is a furnished covered loggia with amazing views over Siena, its historic monuments and churches.
The kitchen is huge, with a dining area and fireplace. The windows here offer wonderful views over the roofs of Siena, with the countryside in the distance. There is a telephone for incoming calls and internet with ADSL line. There is also central heating, and a baby cot available.
