This private villa, which belonged to the Italian film director, Giuseppe Tornatori, is one of the most magical and unique residences in Rome. It is situated within a large, exclusive park-like estate at Porto Latina, which extends right down to the Roman Forum. The location is about 10 minutes walk from the Baths of Caracalla and 15 minutes from the Aventine Hill. Access is through secure gates, up a driveway within the park
Surrounding the villa is a private garden and the atmosphere is so quiet and peaceful, with trees, flowers and vines in abundance. Within the garden there is both a swimming pool (4 x 8m, heated on request) and some excavated Roman ruins dating from the 3rd Century. There is a sauna, and shower, near the pool, and steps lead down to a lower level with a vegetable garden.
The interiors are wonderfully spacious and furnished with antiques, sculptures and paintings. The impressive living room has panelled walls, pillars and some beautiful works of art, and opens up to the garden. The rooms are incredibly well equipped including full air conditioning and heating, a movie theatre, music system throughout (and out into the garden), with i-pod control in every room, satellite TV, DVD player and a piano. There is also a large, professionally equipped gymnasium and Jacuzzi on the second floor.
