Villa Corallo Blu is situated near the well known seaside village of Santa Maria di Leuca, just a 5-10 minute walk from the crystal blue Mediterranean sea. From its position on the extreme southern tip of Italy’s heel, Santa Maria di Leuca is filled with history and culture, and the coastline here alternates between cliffs and small sandy coves. Its church is built over the ruins of a temple of Minerva and there are a number of standing stones and dolmens dating back to Messaplan times. There are wonderful views from the property of the coastline and the sea.
The villa is built in natural stone following the ancient traditions of the local farmers (the “trulli” of the Salento) and, therefore blends in perfectly with the surrounding areas and the nature of the coastline. It is divided into two parts which interconnect. The first part is made up of two independent “trullis”. One features a master bedroom with a private bathroom, the other a twin bedroom with private bathroom. The second part consists of the main building, overlooking the sea. This part has a large living room with satellite-TV, a kitchen, two bedrooms with air conditioning (a master bedroom and a twin bedroom), a bathroom and a storage and laundry room with washing machine.
There are shady, furnished terraces, paved with “pietra leccese” to the front and rear of the villa. The patios are both paved with “pietra leccese” (the typical local stone. They have inserts of bedrock where wonderful caper-shrubs grow. Near the terraces, there is a beautiful swimming pool, surrounded by a furnished terrace, also with shower. A large garden surrounds the whole house and gently slopes down to the sea. Please note that in August, this property is only available for a full month’s rental, not on a weekly basis.
