This villa is one of two luxurious villas near the artistic village of Blevio, right on the shores of Lake Como, opposite the famous Grand Hotel Villa d’Este. The villas have their own dock, enabling guests to arrive by seaplane, or take a boat to the Villa d’Este or one of the charming villages around the lake. There is also a large underground car park, which connects both villas at this level. Dating back to the 18th century, the two villas are separated by a small historic harbour flanked by ancient terracotta statues. In the early 19th century, the two residences were restored by the celebrated dancer, Maria Taglioni, who owned the prestigious Ca’d’Oro on the Grand Canal in Venice. She, together with other musicians and artists, such as Rossini, Liszt and Bellini, was drawn to Lake Como, and Blevio in particular, by the romantic atmosphere and great beauty.
The villas are accessed by a secure and private quarter mile gated road. They are set in seven acres of gardens and woodlands, where there is a shared 2000 square ft. swimming pool, surrounded by a sun deck offering panoramic lake views. The pool area is illuminated at night. The grounds offer lovely walks and guests can reach the lakeshore village of Blevio, with its charming square on the harbour and 17th century church. Water skiing can be arranged from the property’s private dock. The hotel Villa d’Este opposite has a restaurant and also offers sporting facilities, such as tennis and golf, as well as a spa and swimming pool.
Villa Blevio 2 has been totally renovated to the highest of standards and luxuriously decorated and furnished throughout. A beautiful terrace with pergola-covered dining area, overlooking the lake, is illuminated at night. Amenities include ADSL internet access, sky satellite TV, DVD and full air conditioning/heating and fireplaces in the living rooms. Children under 8 years must be accompanied by a nanny. The properties can be rented separately, but would share the swimming pool. They are ideal for large parties of up to 26 guests celebrating a special occasion. There is additional accommodation for staff within the grounds. A minimum stay of 4 days is allowed at these properties in the low season. For the 2008 season, a 6-seater, 140 h.p. runabout boat will be provided for guests. This can be used by guests who have a licence, or alternatively a skipper can be provided at extra charge. Seaplane tours are also available from the villa's seaplane dock.
