This property is situated in the heart of the historical centre of Nesso, below the church. Located between Como and Bellagio, and approximately 20 minutes from each, Nesso consists of picturesque groups of houses along the hilly slopes overlooking the lake, and the lake shore itself. The village centre is at the point where two streams join and form a waterfall which plunges into a gorge. Within 5 – 10 minutes walk of the property is the lake, a restaurant, food shop, bar and newsagent, the famous Orrido waterfall and the ruins of the castle of Nesso. There are also landing stages for both private boats and the public ferry and hydrofoil, from where you can visit other towns and villages around the lake.
The house, originally the residence for the Higher Bishop of Nesso, dates back to the 11th century and is full of character. It was purchased by the current owners a couple of years ago who have decorated and furnished it to create a very comfortable base from which to enjoy Lake Como. There is a parking area nearby.
Access to the property is into a small courtyard area filled with plants and flowers, with 18 steps leading up to the apartment. The entrance hallway features beautiful stained glass windows. The spacious living/dining room opens to a jasmine-covered terrace, which can also be accessed from the kitchen and guest bedroom. Here, you can enjoy outdoor meals overlooking the courtyard and the beautiful old stone houses of Nesso. Amenities include satellite TV, video, a library of books and videos. Heating is available and payable locally according to consumption.
