This spectacular and unique property is situated approximately 7 minutes walk from the main piazza in Capri town. In spite of its central location, it is an oasis of calm, even at the height of the summer, its very large grounds and many trees ensuring peace and constant shade.
From the house, what was originally a Roman chariot path extends through the grounds and up around a hill to a point with magnificent views over the whole island, the sea and the Bay of Naples. At the top there are the remains of a Roman villa and an 18th century French garrison. The hillside is partly wooded and partly devoted to the cultivation of lemons and oranges. Closer to the house, the grounds have been designed as a formal Italian garden with lawned areas, statues and trees. There is a beautiful swimming pool near the house, reached by an arched walkway of lemon and orange trees.
The rooms of the villa open via French doors to wide, shaded marble terraces with column surround, and seating and dining areas, used as an extension of the living space during the summer months. The living areas inside have high ceilings and are beautifully furnished with antiques. The bedrooms, all on the first floor, are spacious and open to terraces. There is central heating for winter lets.
There are no private cars on Capri, and the piazza can be reached either by taxi or by funicular railway from the port. From the piazza, there are porters available to help carry luggage to the villa. There are many excellent restaurants and bars within a short walk, and the delightful resident couple who look after the house and grounds can also advise on boat hire and other activities on the island.

The resident caretakers live in separate accommodation on the premises. Maid service is obligatory for 3 hours minimum per day, to be paid locally. The gardener looks after the garden and the pool, and the housekeeper will also cook for guests, at extra charge to be paid locally. |
