The Capri and Ischia Villa Book
Italy

The island of Capri has been renowned as a holiday spot ever since Roman times when it was famously the former home of the Emperor Tiberius. Now the charming town, with its white-washed buildings, narrow streets and moulded arches and domes, is filled with holidaymakers and day trippers throughout the summer months, and the lively bars and outdoor cafes in the picturesque La Piazzetta have the atmosphere of an open-air party.
Capri is reached by flight to Naples, and then by boat or hydrofoil, both of which operate regularly throughout the day. Upon arrival in Capri, you can travel up to the town by taxi or by funicular railway. During your stay, check out the breathtaking view from the Belvedere Tragara over the Faraglioni, the three enormous limestone pinnacles which tower straight up from the blue-green sea. From Via Tragara a stairway descends to the point and the Porto di Tragara where you can swim from the platforms beneath the vertical rocks. Also visit the Certosa di San Giacomo, a semi-abandoned medieval monastery set behind a lemon grove, the Gardens of Augustus, a lovely park laid out on terraces high above the sea. Continue on to Marina Piccola, Capri’s tiny seaside resort, and to the Villa Jovis, once home to Emperor Tiberius.
Take a bus or taxi (there are no other cars allowed on Capri) to Anacapri and the Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe, one of the greatest physicians of his day. The famed Capri Palace Hotel Spa here offers fabulous treatments which can be booked in advance. Or take a boat from Marina Grande to perhaps Capri’s most famous attraction, the Blue Grotto.
The luxurious properties we have for rent on Capri are within walking distance of the main town, or in Anacapri.
Ischia has long been known for its natural beauty, volcanic origins and its beaches. It is popular all year round for tourists coming to use the thermal baths, which have attracted cure-seekers since Roman times. The vineyards which encircle the island’s highest peak, Monte Epomeo, produce excellent wine Hydrofoil connections to Ischia run from Naples every hour throughout the day, year round.
