This unique property is situated on the edge of the sea in the quiet fishing village of Praiano, between Amalfi and Positano. The house and its gardens have a very special ambience of relaxation, harmony and balance. Originally an ancient villa, it has been restored with very good taste, retaining its traditional charm, and using natural materials and calm, neutral colours, which blend in perfectly with its surroundings and the coastline. An alleyway takes you down to the property (about a 3-4 minute walk from the main coastal road, and approximately 170 steps (spread out over the course of the alleyway) to the villa’s entrance. A private parking space in a public parking lot, situated along the main coastal road (3 minutes walk from the property) can be arranged on request.
The garden, serves as an extension of the house, and was designed by a famous Belgian landscape architect. It covers a space of 5000 square metres, with sculpted hedges, many other plants and trees, fountains, and stone benches, and also a seawater swimming pool. The views are fantastic, looking right out to the Li Galli islands, the Faraglioni rocks of Capri, and Positano. The garden is planted with pine trees and olives, and there is a patio, just outside the villa, furnished with tables, chairs, and umbrellas, ideal for taking breakfast while enjoying the views. 8 steps lead down to a second garden level, planted with trees, and another set of steps takes you further down to a circular fountain. The last garden level brings you to a seawater swimming pool 5 x 10m, 2 m. deep) built out from the natural rock. The property also has a private beach platform, down a series of steps descending the cliffs, for swimming in the open sea. At night the garden is lit with candles.
The villa has six bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. Every bedroom has 4.30 meters high domed ceilings, stone floors, stencilled walls, and sea views. The stylish bedrooms are furnished with oriental inspired furniture, and have a writing desk, mini-refrigerator, telephone, armchairs, lamps, and built-in wardrobes. Three of the bedrooms also have flat screen TVs and DVD players. French doors or large panoramic windows have views of the garden and the sea. A glass bookcase sits in the centre of each bedroom, each focusing on a different literary field of interest – art, architecture, nature, history, philosophy, and psychology. The villa has central heating, but no air conditioning. However its dome-shaped ceilings (in all bedrooms), thick, stone walls and the fresh sea breezes, gives the property a cool, comfortable ambience, even during the hot summer months. Ground Floor
Cosy office/bar with sofa and chairs. Adjoining breakfast room with 6 small tables, chairs, and benches, and a large glass door leading out to the garden. Small, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, 4-range stovetop, microwave, electric coffee machine, meat slicer and large refrigerator/freezer. Both kitchen and bar have direct garden access.
First Floor
17 steps leads up to two suites, and a double room. Each suite is comprised of a double bedroom with Baldaquin beds, a well furnished adjoining living area and en-suite bathroom. The double room is positioned in the centre of the house, and therefore, a bit darker and cooler.
Second Floor
Three beautiful double bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, and the third bedroom with separate bathroom. All rooms lead onto a paved terrace facing the sea and the garden, and furnished with lounge chairs and tables.
