This beautiful, completely renovated luxury apartment is located in a quiet, residential area in the upper part of Positano, with wonderful, panoramic views over the entire town to the Li Galli islands. There are approximately 90 steps that lead up from the main coastal road to the entrance of the property, although it is also possible for a taxi to have access. From the villa, guests can reach the centre of town on foot, in about 10 minutes and the beach in 15 minutes.
The splendid, historic building was completely restored in late 2006, after an intense period of renovation during which original frescoes, dating back to 1715, were discovered. The property was very carefully renovated by master craftsmen, and has been restored to all its former glory. Entrance is through a large set of wooden double doors into the living room with 15 ft high ceilings. There are high ceilings throughout, and large windows allowing for cool breezes, and natural sunlight. The living room opens to a large terrace, with hand-made ceramic tiles on the floor and on the sides of the terrace walls. There is a round, ceramic dining table here with 4 cast iron chairs, 4 sun loungers, a small marble sink, an external shower, and an ancillary kitchen unit with two small burners and a very small table grill. The terrace enjoys wonderful views of both Positano and the Mediterranean and in the morning, at sunrise the view is almost surreal.
The accommodation comprises two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with original hand-made, ceramic tile floors from Pompei and marble bath tubs. The magnificent 18th century doors are decorated with delicate arabesques, and the frescoes show original country scenes, but at the same time, all modern comforts have been discreetly added. From the precious tiles in original decorated ceramic from the 1700s, to the old neoclassical bathtub made from a single marble block, to the old fireplace, which is exclusively ornamental; nothing has been compromised, and everything blends in perfectly. Amenities include satellite TV, CD player, a safe and air conditioning/heating throughout. Because of the high standard of furnishing, children are only allowed on request.
