With its hillside position, surrounded by olive groves, both the location and style of Xyloporta are reminiscent of a charming Tuscan farmhouse. Comprising a quaint mini-hamlet of converted farm buildings, its layout makes it equally ideal as a romantic retreat for a couple, or a holiday home for 9 - 13 people. From the front of the property, there are 180 degree views along the Zakynthos coast and mountains to the south.
Entrance is into a very pretty vine-covered courtyard, furnished with table and chairs for dining outdoors. The main living area and bedrooms open to the courtyard, while a door to one side leads to a further terrace with ping pong table and barbecue, and then another terrace with an ancient olive tree in the middle, surrounded by colourful geraniums. Just below this terrace is the new swimming pool (10 x 5.5 at deep end and 10 x 3.5 at shallow end), in a wonderful position with views of the sea. There is another small sun terrace at the front of the property, also with sea views.
The house is painted white with blue doors and shutters and the charming interiors are also painted white, with high ceilings with white painted exposed beams and terracotta tiled floors. Well furnished and equipped, this property provides a character-filled hideaway in idyllically peaceful surroundings. An old stone dwelling, Tassia’s Cottage, behind the main house has recently been renovated to provide accommodation for a further 2 – 4 people. This is available for rent with Xyloporta during high season, and as a separate entity, at other times.

Main House
Entrance from courtyard to spacious and light living/dining room/kitchen. Kitchen equipment includes small fridge, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, food processor and kettle. A door from this room leads to a shower room with WC and basin, which can also be accessed from the rear courtyard. Rear bedroom with twin beds and ceiling fan, opening to courtyard. Larger twin/double bedroom, also off courtyard with en-suite bathroom (bath, basin and WC) and air conditioning.
Leading off from the second terrace with olive tree is a converted stable building offering a twin/double bedroom with en-suite shower room (with basin and WC). This room, which is air conditioned, has a ladder up to another level with two more beds and could also accommodate another single bed, providing accommodation for up to 5 children. There is also another small double bedroom in this building with en-suite shower room (with basin and WC).
Tassia's Cottage
Living room and adjacent kitchen, accessed through an open archway alongside the original old bread oven. Small double bedroom. Bathroom. Separate WC. A wrought-iron staircase leads from the living room up to the master bedroom, with views over the rooftop of Xyloporta to the sea. The living room opens to a small private south-facing terrace with access, if required, to Xyloporta. |
