This lovely property has a gloriously, secluded setting, nestled on a hillside, surrounded by terraces of ancient olive trees and with amazing views down the east coast of the island and the sea. Although completely private and not overlooked by any other houses, it is not remote, being less than 10 minutes drive from the small, local village of Anno Volimes. The coast is about 5 minutes drive away, where there is a sandy beach in the little fishing port nearby, which also has an attractive fish taverna on the edge of the water and a stylish Art Café owned by an artist, who sells her work all over the world. There is another shallow sandy beach about 20 minutes drive south, also with a good taverna. Most of the little bays near the property have pebble beaches and sparkling, clear water, and remain uncrowded at any time of year.
The rooms open via large French windows to a long covered terrace with views to the swimming pool and beyond. The terraces around the house provide flexible sitting and eating areas and there is a built-in barbecue on the main dining terrace. The 15 metre infinity pool is situated below the house and is salt-chlorinated. It has a delightful covered eating area, with pool fridge and shower, as well as loungers and large umbrellas. The terraced grounds abound with wild flowers in the spring and colourful shrubs in summer.
The accommodation consists of the main house and in an old olive grower's cottage, just yards from the front door, with its own covered terrace leading on to a paved courtyard, partially shaded by ancient olive trees. The rooms are open and airy and furnished very comfortably, with a sense of simple luxury. The rooms are all at ground floor level with limed, beamed ceilings. The four double bedrooms, each has its own shower room and hairdryer, and three of the bedrooms can be made up as twins. There is a washing machine and pool towels are provided. A very nice English housekeeper looks after the house, and can arrange shopping, cooking, picnics and babysitting. A meal can be prepared in advance of your arrival, as well as a stocked fridge and cellar. Please note that in view of the terraced nature of the land, the property is not ideally suitable for very young children.
