This lovely property, originally an old winery and mill complex, dates back to the early 18th century. It is situated in the beautiful medieval hilltop village of Pyrgos, one of the oldest settlements on the island, and just 7 kilometres from Fira and the Caldera. A short walk from the central parking area will lead you to the villa. There are two entrances from the cobblestone footpath into the large lower and upper courtyard, ideal for outdoor entertaining and sunbathing.There are spectacular 280 degree views from the terraces to the north-west and north-east of the island, including the Caldera, Fira, Imerovigli, Oia and the whole eastern coast from Kamari. On a clear day it is possible to see 14 of the surrounding islands and there are spectacular evening sunsets.
The property has been beautifully restored as a simple but very stylish summer retreat by a team of local artisans, using traditional materials and techniques. Features include a stone seating alcove in the living area, once a wine pressing area, and a curved stone staircase connecting the living area to the kitchen and dining area. The floors are traditional polished stone, and covered with beautiful Turkish rugs. Decorative hand-made cushions, made by a local designer, are used throughout the villa. Amenities include internet access, satellite TV, DVD, CD player and air conditioning.
From the lower courtyard barn-style doors open to theliving room, which once served as the wine pressing area. Beautiful rugs cover the traditional polished cement floor. A curved staircase connects the living and dining rooms, and the full equipped kitchen overlooks the upper terrace and outdoor jacuzzi. In addition, there are four further terraces taking full advantage of the views. This very special property provides a wonderful base for up to 8 people. Minimum stay is 3 nights. Transfers from/to Santorini port or airport, as well as a rental car are included in the rental.
