Situated in Megalochori, a traditional medieval village, the Vedema Resort sits in a lush garden setting overlooking the surrounding vineyards, and with views to the Aegean sea beyond. Originally a 400 year old winery, the resort has been constructed around this as its focal point, retaining the traditional Cycladic architecture. The resort comprises 45 apartments and villas, all of which have been recently totally redecorated, and are equipped with every modern comfort. Facilities at the resort include a swimming pool, large open-air Jacuzzi, spa, fitness centre, boutique and business centre. Guests also have access to a private beach 3 kilometres away with towels, sun beds, umbrellas and bar service. A free minibus transfer service is offered to and from Thira, just 7 kms away, the beach (with the resort’s private beach facilities) and the airport.
All the villas have small kitchenettes equipped with 2 hot-plates and fridge, enabling guests to prepare light snacks on their own, take advantage of room service, or dine at one of the restaurants. The 15th century-styled winery restaurant, ‘Vinsanto’, serves superb Mediterranean cuisine by candlelight, and there is also a pool restaurant offering light meals and evening cocktails, as well as a buffet breakfast each morning. In addition, for a special occasion, there is a romantic private dining room for two. Wine tastings are held in the 400 year old winery, and there are business and conference facilities.
Each villa comprises a spacious living room, one or two bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, mini-bar, satellite 32” TFT TV in the living room and 25” TFT TV in the bedroom, CD player, air conditioning, safe deposit box and wi-fi internet connection. Each house is individually designed and styled to cater for personal preferences, and all open to a private terrace or patio with garden or sea view. 12 villas offer more upgrade facilities, with open-air Jacuzzis, and 4 even more luxuriously appointed villas have private swimming pools. Right at the top of the range, is the deluxe Presidential Villa, sleeping 6, a 100 year old neo-classical mansion. Painted white with turquoise furnishings, it has stone floors, hand-decorated ceilings, remote adjustable beds, whirlpool bathtubs, plasma TV, DVD and surround-sound hi-fi system. It also has a private heated swimming pool (approximately 4 x 3m) and open-air Jacuzzi.
