This charming property is situated right in the heart of the picturesque village of Naoussa, with its pretty port filled with fishing boats and its labyrinth of winding, narrow alleys and sparkling white Cycladic houses. The villa, built 300 years ago, and refurbished in 1992, is just one a minute walk from the port and close to all amenities, including a good selection of local tavernas. Boat trips can be organized from the port to visit the best beaches on the island, including Langeri, Santa Maria, Monastiri and Kolymbithres.
There are three entrances to the property off the narrow lanes, one of these being through a blue door into a lovely garden with pomegranate trees, bougainvillea vines and pots of colourful geraniums. There is also a swimming pool (11 x 5m) with diving board, surrounded by a sun terrace furnished with sunloungers, and with an outdoor shower. Hidden behind a stone wall, decorated with 17th century marbles found during the restoration of the property, this is a real haven of peace and tranquillity. As cars are not allowed in the narrow streets which comprise the village centre, it is particularly quiet. A pergola covered dining area just outside the house and overlooking the pool provides an ideal setting for meals outdoors.
Constructed in a traditional style, the house has thick white plaster walls, making it cool in summer, arches, original stone floors, beamed ceilings and blue painted doors and windows. The accommodation is on two levels with the main living room on the first floor, which is accessed by quite a narrow steep staircase (not suitable for small children or the elderly), or from an external stone staircase from the garden. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on this level and a further bedroom and two bathrooms on the ground floor. Furnished in a simple, traditional style, amenities include central heating and air conditioning (at a charge of 20 euros a day), washing machine and television.
The welcoming owners greet guests on arrival and are available for assistance during your stay. They also own apartments in Athens (minimum 3 night stay) so a stay in Paros could be combined with a stopover in Athens.
