A former monastery dating from the 11th century, this beautifully renovated property is situated in a rural location in the south of the Pays d’Aix, 12 kilometres from the centre of Aix en Provence. A supermarket and shopping centre are just a few minutes away. Also within a short drive is the beautiful Jardin d'Albertas and, at Valabre, the famous Pavilion de Chasse du Roi René. Marseille and the airport are just a 20 minute drive away.
The accommodation comprises spacious living quarters, beautifully renovated throughout, set within park-like grounds. Next to the main part of the house is a large barn suitable for functions, and including a billiards and games room, with pinball machine, sound system and sofas for relaxing. Close to this is an 11th century chapel and, approximately 200 metres away, is a tennis court. To one side of the house, on a slightly lower level, is the swimming pool (13 metres, step access), with protective cover. A covered terrace to one side houses a fridge, changing area and WC. There is also a large teak dining table and chairs for dining outdoors. Within the garden there is a children's swing and two soccer goals.
The ground floor living areas have the original vaulted ceilings, very thick walls and stone flagged floors, keeping the rooms cool during the summer months. Stone archways connect the various living and dining areas and there is a huge old stone fireplace in the main living room. The rooms are furnished to a high standard with beautiful oriental antiques. There is satellite TV, DVD, CD machine and high speed internet is available in parts of the house - the thick walls and vaulted ceilings mean that there is not internet access in all rooms.
