This traditional stone bastide dates from the early 1700s and was formerly the residence of Avignon aristocracy. It is situated at Les Vignères, just 4 kms from the market town of Cavaillon and 6 kms from the charming town of Isle-sur-la Sorgue, famous for its silk mills in the Middle Ages, and now popular for its huge Sunday antique market. The surrounding countryside consists of orchards and vineyards and there are views from the property of the Luberon Mountains and Mt. Ventoux in the distance. It is a very convenient location for touring the Luberon hill villages, and also visiting Avignon, 20 minutes away.
The house is set in a large lawned enclosed garden, beautifully planted with flowers, shrubs, lavender and parasol pine trees, and flanked by poplar trees, providing shade for parking. Within the garden there is also a swimming pool (fenced for the safety of young children), which can be illuminated at night, and a pool house. To the front of the house the rooms open to a lovely sunny terrace, furnished with teak furniture, including a dining area and a barbecue
The accommodation is bright and spacious, with high beamed ceilings and brick tiled floors, making it cool during the hot summer months. Amenities include television (french channels only), VCR, hi-fi stereo with CD player, and telephone with answer machine and fax.
Shorter stays of less than a week, on a per bedroom price, including breakfast, are available out of high season.
