This beautiful country manor house is situated amongst fields and tall trees near the little village of Rougemontiers in the Normandy countryside. Honfleur and Rouen are about half an hour’s drive from the property, and Paris is just over an hour away by autoroute. From the moment you pass through the twin pillared entry gate and drive up the curving driveway, you feel as if you have entered another world, far from the stresses of daily life. Constructed of red brick and symmetrically designed, the house dates from the early 1800s. Evidence of its traditional ‘grande bourgeoise’ 19th century décor is seen in its high-ceilinged rooms, parquet floors, sculpted wood staircases and marble fireplaces
With about 3000 square feet of living space, over three floors, the house is extremely spacious and light. Furnished immaculately with antiques, it successfully combines the features of a traditional country home with all modern comforts. The bedrooms are all charmingly decorated, each in a distinctive style, and kitchen and all the en-suite bathrooms are superbly equipped. Amenities include hi-fi stereo with CD player, satellite television, DVD, VCR and internet access, washing machine and dryer. Please note that no smoking is allowed in the house, and the owners would prefer no children under the age of 14 years.
Park-like grounds extend to the front of the property with gardens and mature trees, including a gigantic weeping willow. There is also a swimming pool (12 x 6m) which can be heated on request. and a small summer kitchenette with fridge. Adjoining this area is a large open field, also part of the property. Le Manoir offers a genuinely rural experience, with all modern comforts. In Rouen and its environs alone there are no fewer than 16 Michelin rated restaurants and a wide selection of bistros offering traditional Normandy cuisine. We can think of few more ideal holidays than a week or two here, preceded or followed by a week in one of our Paris apartments. Stays of five nights are accepted in low season.
