Situated in a magnificent location, on a rock face, hundreds of feet above the Dordogne River, this beautiful villa enjoys superb views over the valley. Surrounded by pine woods, it is particularly quiet and tranquil, yet being at the very heart of the Dordogne, it is very accessible to the many attractions this fascinating region has to offer. The nearest village, Castelnaud, with its château, is just 2 kms away, and the picturesque riverside village of La Roque Gageac with its houses built into the cliffside, is 4 kms. A wealth of places to visit and activities close at hand, include canoeing on the Dordogne river, and visits to other historic towns, villages and châteaux, including the medieval town of Sarlat, 14 kms away. For food lovers, there are 4 Michelin starred restaurants within a 40 minute drive and excellent markets in Beynac, Sarlat, La Roque Gageac, St Cyprien and Domme for purchasing regional specialities.
The well maintained garden is a delight, with lawns, rose bushes, hedges and flowers. The swimming pool (11 x 5m) and a newly built pool house, with summer kitchen, are on a decked terrace to one side of the house, which extends out over the valley, and from where the stunning views can be enjoyed. The pool has underwater lights and can be heated on request. A sun terrace, also with great views, runs the full length of the house and also has an awning for shade. Both terraces have barbecues and are furnished for dining and relaxing outdoors.
The interiors have recently been renovated throughout to a high standard and offer great comfort. With traditional tiled floors, with rugs, and heavily beamed ceilings, the spacious rooms are furnished with antiques. The first floor rooms have been new carpets and wallpaper. Amenities include 52” LCD satellite TV, DVD, hi-fi system and high speed internet access. There is air conditioning in all bedrooms. Belvedere is an ideal property for a family holiday, although not recommended for very young children, due to the terraced nature of the garden.
