Chalet Eugenia is a truly magnificent building that has been beautifully furnished and lovingly maintained. It was built by Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza in the resort’s early years and has remained the winter residence of the same family ever since. It is located in the village, only a two minute drive from the restaurants, bars and lifts. It is also extremely private with its own driveway and several acres of open space separating it from the nearest chalets to the south. The location makes it ideal for families, with a beginners’ piste on the doorstep, which is easily visible from the chalet, allowing parents to relax while their children play in the snow.
The main drawing room with its central pillared fireplace is the focus of the chalet which also boasts a stunning dining room. An intimate second dining room is equipped with the original wood-fired oven in which the chef will prepare many of the region’s special dishes. The study is equipped with telephone, fax and computer with internet access. There are also international direct dial telephones in every bedroom. The TV room has cable TV with DVD and video equipment, and there are children’s toys, sledges, games, books, CDs, DVDs and videos.
The six individually designed en-suite bedrooms are set over four floors. Most have their own balconies with fabulous southerly views of the impressive Gotschna. There are two further bedrooms sleeping up to three additional guests. Each bedroom has feather pillows and duvets, personal bathrobes and slippers, a hairdryer, and soaps, bubble baths and shampoos in the bathrooms. Further amenities include a ski room with heated boot racks, a well-stocked wine cellar, a Grand Piano, fresh flowers and daily newspapers. A chauffeured 4 x 4 is provided for getting about.
